A 3D atlas of the solar system that runs in the browser: zoom from the whole Milky Way down to a few thousand kilometres above a moon, run time forwards and backwards and cut planets open. Every position comes from a real gravity calculation.

This project does not allow embedding on other sites — that is a deliberate security setting on its server, not a fault. The screenshot is real and current; open the running version in a new tab.
Open liveOrbital Atlas starts from NASA/JPL Horizons state vectors and computes the orbits of the Sun, the planets, the Moon, Ceres, Halley’s Comet and three spacecraft itself — with Newton’s law of gravitation and the Sun’s relativistic correction. After ten simulated years the Earth is about 1.4 km from JPL’s ephemeris; the test suite checks this on every build. Add nearly 25,000 real asteroids and Kuiper-belt objects, 9,096 stars from the Bright Star Catalogue and 37 nearby stars in 3D. Thirteen bodies can be cut open: the layers are to scale, with depth, density, temperature and how we know — seismology, gravity field or model. A badge always says whether you are seeing true scale or an enlargement. Surfaces are mission imagery from NASA, USGS and Hubble.
One of our own projects — not an off-the-shelf template. Below is an honest account of what works and what is still missing. If you want to take it over as it stands, that is possible on request.
Not rebuilt but handed over: the project as it stands, including code, rights and handover. We will check what can be transferred and come back within 24 h with a binding quote.
