is a trick — every item here is a real pattern that has cost real people their
appeal.
Ban evasion
The single most damaging thing you can do while appealing. Joining on
another account is a separate rule break, and it converts an appeal that might
have succeeded into one that cannot.
If you are banned, you are banned until the appeal is answered. That is the
part that is actually under your control.
Lying
We have the logs. An appeal that describes something the record contradicts
does not just fail — it removes the benefit of the doubt from everything else
you wrote, including the parts that were true.
If you did it, say you did it. That appeal has a real chance. The other one
does not.
Abuse in the appeal itself
Insults in an appeal shorten the process, but not in your favour. It is worth
being blunt about why: the person reading it is being asked to decide whether
you can be trusted around other people, and the appeal is the evidence
directly in front of them.
"Other people do it too"
Possibly true, and not an appeal. It is a report about somebody else, and it
belongs in a report. It has never reduced anybody's punishment and it never
will.
"It was my brother / my friend / someone had my account"
Occasionally true. Also the most common excuse there is, which means it
carries almost no weight on its own.
And it does not help as much as people expect even when believed: **one
account belongs to one person** is itself a rule. Handing your account to
someone who got it banned is your responsibility.
Appealing five times
One appeal. Then wait. Then a second one only if something new exists.
Repeat appeals with nothing new get declined without a long reply — not out of
irritation, but because there is nothing to weigh that was not weighed the
first time.
No detail
"unban me" is not an appeal. Neither is "I didn't do anything". Without a
name, a rough time and a description, there is nothing to check, and the
answer will be a request for exactly those things — which costs you days.
Arguing in public chat
Never once worked. It is also, quite often, what turns a mute into a ban.
