The one rule that changes everything
Die and you lose a heart. Kill someone and you gain one.
That is the whole mechanic. Everything else about how this mode feels comes
out of it.
What it does to the game
Every fight is worth something. On a normal survival server, losing a
fight costs you your inventory and twenty minutes. Here it costs you a piece
of your health bar that somebody else now has. Winners get durably stronger.
Losers get durably weaker. There is no reset button at the end of the round,
because there is no round.
Running away is a real strategy. Not a failure — a decision. The best
players here are not the ones who win every fight, they are the ones who only
take fights they have already decided to take.
Recovery is slow. If you are down hearts, you are down until you win
fights. That asymmetry is the point of the mode, and it is why the first week
is the hardest one you will play.
What this means for you on day one
Everyone who has been here longer is measurably tougher than you. That is not
your imagination and it is not bad luck — it is arithmetic. Play accordingly:
- Do not carry everything you own.
- Do not build where people walk.
- Take fights you chose, not fights that found you.
- Team up. Two people at full hearts beat one person at full hearts, every
time.
Raiding
Bases may be attacked and looted. That is the mode and it is in the rules
without apology.
What is not allowed is pointless destruction: what you do not take with
you, you do not blow up wholesale either. The difference between raiding and
demolition is whether there is anything left to raid next week.
What is not documented here
Exact heart caps, floors, and what happens at zero are not written down
anywhere official yet, so they are not written down here either. Ask on
Discord and you will get the real answer in a minute — that is better than a
number in a forum post that turns out to be wrong.
