Connect your Discord — and get a key

Link your Discord account to your GG account, what we can and cannot see, and the free Kill key that comes with it.

Connecting your Discord account to your GG account takes about fifteen
seconds, and the first time you do it you get one Kill key, delivered in
game.

Why bother#

Beyond the key: Discord is where the fastest answers are. Announcements,
downtime, KoTH times and the people who can actually fix your problem are all
there, and a linked account means the team can match "the person complaining in
chat" with "the order that failed" without a round of twenty questions.

What you need first#

Two things:

  1. A GG account, signed in. Create one if you have

not — it takes a minute.

  1. Membership of the Discord server. Join here if you are not

in yet — the same invite sits in the header of every page.

The membership requirement is the point of the reward. Handing a key to any
Discord account on earth would not be an incentive to join anything.

What happens when you click Connect#

  1. You are sent to Discord.
  2. Discord asks whether you want to let GG Network see who you are and

which servers you are in. You approve or you do not — nothing happens
here until you do.

  1. You come back. We check that our server is in that list.
  2. If it is, the accounts are linked and the key is queued.

That is the whole flow. There is no bot to message and no code to copy.

What we can see, and what we cannot#

We ask for two things and store less than we ask for.

Your Discord user ID and name. Stored. This is what "linked" means.

The list of servers you are in. Read once, at the moment you connect, to
answer one yes-or-no question: are you in ours? The list itself is not stored.

Not requested and not accessible: your messages, your email address, your
friends, anything in any other server, and the ability to act as you anywhere.

Discord's own permission screen is the authority here — read what it says
before you approve, on this site or any other.

The reward#

One Kill key. Once per account.

It is delivered through the ordinary
delivery queue, addressed to your
Minecraft name, so it behaves like anything else you buy or redeem: it may take
a moment, and you do not need to be online.

Two limits worth stating plainly, because people try both:

  • Once per GG account. Disconnecting and reconnecting does not produce a

second key. The record that you already had it is kept independently of the
link.

  • Once per Discord account. One Discord account can be linked to exactly

one GG account. If yours is already attached elsewhere, connecting will tell
you so instead of quietly doing nothing.

Disconnecting#

You can unlink at any time from your account settings.
It removes the link. It does not take back the key, and it does not give you a
new one when you link again.

If the button says it is not available#

Then the connection is not configured on this server yet. That is a
configuration state, not an error on your side, and there is nothing you can do
to work around it — the button will start working when it is set up.

If something went wrong#

  • "You are not in the Discord server." Join first, then try again. If you

just joined, give it a moment: Discord takes a few seconds to agree with
itself about new members.

  • "That Discord account is already linked." It is attached to another GG

account. If that account is also yours, unlink it there first.

  • The key has not arrived. It is in the queue like any other delivery —

Purchase has not arrived applies
unchanged.
