Ranks
What a rank is, how permanent and timed ranks differ, and what happens if you buy the same one twice.
What a rank is#
A rank is a permission group on the game server. It is attached to your
Minecraft name, not to your website account, and it shows up in game as soon as
the delivery runs.
Ranks are per network, not per mode. Where a rank actually changes something
depends on the mode you are standing in — the Gen ranks are built around
HeartGen capacity.
Permanent and timed#
Permanent is the default. You buy it, you keep it. Only the team can take
it away, and only for a rule violation.
Timed ranks exist too — the milestones you reach by
voting hand out ranks for a fixed number of
days, and the shard shop has time-limited entries.
The behaviour that surprises people:
buying a timed rank again extends it, it does not restart it. Two 28-day
purchases give you 56 days. That is on
purpose — the alternative would mean a second purchase could shorten what you
already had.
One consequence is worth knowing: the expiry date shown on this website is a
lower bound for a stacked timed rank. The game server is the authority on
when it actually runs out, and it removes the rank itself when it does. We do
not schedule a second removal on top, because a second one racing the first
could take away a period you still had.
Where to see what you have#
Account → Ranks lists what you own and the state of
its delivery. If something says it is still queued long after you bought it,
read Purchase has not arrived — the
first check there resolves most cases.
What ranks do not do#
A rank is not immunity. It does not change how the rules apply to you, it does
not get you the benefit of the doubt in an appeal, and it cannot be transferred
to another player after delivery.
Buying a rank for someone else is fine and does not need an account — put
their Minecraft name in at checkout.
