Reporting a player

What to report#

Anything on the rules page: cheating, harassment, scamming,
advertising, impersonating the team.

What not to report#

Losing a fight. Being raided. Someone being better than you. Someone being
rude once. These are either the game working or a matter for the block button.

Reporting them anyway is not a crime, but a queue full of "he killed me" makes
the real reports slower.

Evidence#

This decides everything. A report without evidence is one person's word, and
nobody gets banned on one person's word.

Video beats everything, especially for cheating. Fifteen seconds of the
actual behaviour beats five minutes of build-up.

Screenshots work for chat, if they show the whole exchange rather than the
one line that looks worst out of context.

Say when it happened. A time and a date lets a moderator find it in the
logs. "Yesterday-ish" does not.

Name the player exactly. Same care as everywhere else on this site — the
wrong letter is a different person, and reporting the wrong person is its own
problem.

Where to send it#

• On the forum: every post has a report action. Use it instead of replying

to the post; a reply pushes it back to the top of the list, which is the
opposite of what you want.

• A player, in game: the help category or Discord.
• Something urgent or sensitive — a scam in progress, someone posting

another person's private information: Discord, directly to the team, not a
public thread.

After you send it#

You will usually not be told the outcome. That is not the team ignoring you.
Punishments are between the team and the person punished, and publishing them
turns moderation into a scoreboard.

What you can rely on is that reports are read. If nothing seems to happen, it
may mean the evidence was not enough — not that nobody looked.

Do not take it into your own hands#

Naming and shaming in a public thread, organising a pile-on, or retaliating
in game moves you from the person who reported a problem to a second person
who has one. It has happened, and it is an avoidable way to collect a
punishment while being in the right.
