Shards

What shards are#

Shards are the currency of this website. They are written as ◈.

They are deliberately not euros and they are deliberately not the in-game
currency. A shard price should never read like a money price, which is why they
are shown in their own colour and with their own symbol everywhere.

Getting them#

Three ways in:

Voting. Every counted vote pays what that site is worth, plus the streak
bonus. This is the main one, and it is free.

Buying. Some store products grant shards directly.

Playing. The game server can report shard drops.

And one way out: the shard shop.

Every movement is written down#

Your balance is not just a number that goes up and down. Every change is a line
in a ledger with a reason attached — vote, streak, milestone, purchase,
playtime, shop, refund, correction.

That matters to you in one very practical way:
"where did my shards go" has an answer. You can look, rather than being
told a number and having to
believe it.

It also means a credit cannot happen twice. Each entry carries a key that can
only exist once, so a retried request credits you once and the repeat does
nothing at all.

And your balance cannot go negative. That is enforced at the lowest level, not
just checked in the interface.

What shards cannot do#

• They cannot be transferred to another player.
• They cannot be converted back into money.
• They are not shared with anyone else's account.
